Pennsylvania Trip 2017 | Travel & Day 1

We were invited to Chris's Granny's 90th Birthday Party that was taking place up in Maryland. So, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to toss the kids in the car and head north for a visit. Bright & early. We got on the road at 3:40 am. Ew.

Thankfully both kids transitioned right back to sleep. Neither of them woke up until Georgia.

They both did surprisingly well. Aria had her tablet and a few Target dollar spot surprises tucked away, but mostly she played on her tablet. Lincoln snoozed and enjoyed the ride for the majority of the time. And, we only had to stop approximately 78 times for potty breaks, gas, coffee breaks, food, or to nurse.

We did a straight shot up from Florida to Chris's brother's house in Pennsylvania. If I am remembering correctly it took us around 18 hours. Ew.

Naturally it poured on us from Virginia until Pennsylvania. Could barely see the road type pouring. Ew. (On a positive note, all that rain welcomed a cool front and the weather was glorious for the first two, three days. I was wishing I had packed something a little warmer. Those were some winter temperatures for us Floridians.)

But, we arrived in one piece and got to tuck ourselves into bed.

The kids even slept until almost 7!

The next morning we all straggled out to the toys to meet cousins/nephews. This is the first time we'd been able to visit our nephews. The last time we were in Pennsylvania Aria was a year old and my sister-in-law was pregnant with her first. Now we have a collective four. The youngest two, Elias and Lincoln, are about a month apart.

Eventually we gathered ourselves together and checked out the local farmer's market.

I asked Aria to stand with dad so I could take a picture. This is what I got.

The farmer's market. It has been conquered.

Chris of course brought his unicycle, and couldn't wait to try it out on the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. Aria loved all the "mountains" on our trip =)

Then we explored the (gigantic) hill behind the house. I'm surprised I didn't fall on my behinder walking down this thing.

And, then it was time for Granny's Birthday Party!

Both kids took a nap in the car on the way, so when we arrived we got some fresh air to wake everybody up.

My calves were sore from all these hills for the next two days. I wish I were kidding.

Then we made our way back to the party. Granny had around 70 or 80 people gathered in her honor. Family and friends scattered all over the place. Aria got to run around the yard with her cousins. Lincoln spent his time pulling up all the grass. We all enjoyed the cool weather. There was cake. We couldn't have asked for a more festive reason to take a family trip.

  1. So many great memories! All the hills makes me giggle but I guess Florida is quite flat so yeah... central PA mountains it is!
