Stitch Fix Review - #3

Sweet Turtle Soup - Stitch Fix Review #3

I just got my third fix the other day. I've been waiting to feel like myself again after giving birth and I wanted to be past the newborn spit up days (mostly) before scheduling my next fix. So, 7ish months out and I figured it was time for a little closet spruce. This time around I requested all tops and/or dresses. I have a few pairs of shorts that do the trick, but I could use some variety in the tops department.

My box arrived on the front porch (when I also noticed that the porch could use a sweep...and a welcome mat) and I couldn't wait to open it up. You can get a sneak peek online after your fix ships, but I always wait until I can open the box myself.

While I was digging into my fix Lincoln was playing with the bottom of his high chair.

But, then he spotted mama on the floor...

And, everybody knows that mamas on the floor cannot be resisted. Are you dying? I'm dying. ha. That face!

So, after a quick look (with one hand) at what was sent in my fix I had to set it aside until nap time to give it a proper inspection.

Here is what came in my third fix (brought to you by nap time)...

PIXLEY DIRULO DRESS

My first thought was that the print was crazy. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. But, once I slipped it on I really liked it. I also noticed that the top was much too big. The straps kept slipping off of my shoulders, which was a bummer since it was comfortable and I rather liked it. I also think it would look great with a denim jacket, which I noticed was suggested on the style card too so I felt extra fashionable after that. Although, I don't even own a denim jacket...so there's that.

But, the fit just wasn't great on me so I had to send it back. Sadly.

verdict: returned

MARKET & SPRUCE LILA CROCHET TRIM TOP

When I took this top out of the perfectly folded stack of items I was a bit overwhelmed with the floral. It's bright and busy but not in a good way... I tried it on and still hated it. ha. It was comfortable though and silky. I liked the crochet details at the top, but on the other hand it would show bra straps through.

The deal breaker though was the pattern. I felt like I was wearing something you'd find at your crazy aunt's house covering the toilets. Not my taste.

verdict: returned

THML FARLI EMBROIDERY DETAIL TOP

Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear so I was excited to try this one one. I slipped it on and instantly loved how it felt and fit. The material was super light and soft. The sleeves were loose, which I love. I could take or leave the embroidery in the center though.

I wavered back and forth on keeping this one or not, but at $58 I felt that it was too expensive for a casual shirt. If it had started with a 4 instead of a 5 I would have probably kept it.

verdict: returned

SKIES ARE BLUE KELSIE EYELET HALTER TOP

The picture doesn't do this justice, but the color is really lovely - like a bright rose. I also like wearing halter tops. But, when I put it on it did not fit me well. The bit between the neck and the arm holes gaped open awkwardly. I felt like it fit normally everywhere else though so it wasn't just too big in general. I really liked how the neckline looked, but I would have needed to invest in a strapless bra (which sounds challenging) or just wear my hair strategically, ha.

But, even though it is a lovely color I had to send this one back.

verdict: returned

FUN2FUN ZAHARI SPLIT NECK TOP

When I checked out the style card before pulling out all the items from my fix I thought this top looked a little boring. But, I ended up loving it once I pulled it out and put it on. It's super lightweight, perfect for a Florida summer. I thought the floral was feminine and pretty without being too crazy. The top is comfortable, soft, and easy to wear. And, my favorite part are the sleeves. They are flowy and have this sweet little edging detail around them. The edging is Aria's favorite part too, she keeps telling me she likes my snowflakes =) I think they are little flowers technically though.

  1. Love love love the top you kept. I also liked the MARKET & SPRUCE LILA CROCHET TRIM TOP, busy pattern and all. I'm more likely to wear a busy print up top than on any other part of my body.

  10. You know what's funny? I am so like you. I am not a big pattern person and when I see too much pattern, I'm turned off. I return it. And then? I post about it and everyone's like OMG YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT THAT! Well, minus the fact that there were fit issues, those floral tops were so cute!!! Did you try to exchange and they didn't have a smaller size?
I also love this comment "I felt like I was wearing something you'd find at your crazy aunt's house covering the toilets." LOL!
