Lincoln | SIX months

Happy Half Birthday...like a week and a half ago! I should probably start thinking up first birthday ideas now because it feels like he was just born 4 minutes ago. I vaguely recall thinking Aria's first year lasted forever and the second year flying past. So, if this gets faster...I'm in trouble. I am, however, already looking forward to Halloween this year =)

Mostly in 6-9 clothing and I really need to pick him up some more 6-9 sleepers because the 3-6 are not cutting it these days. Still in size 3 diapers, and one day we might even get around to starting cloth diapers. Maybe.

Weight: tba
Birth: 7lbs 1 oz
Height: 27 inches (according to my super exact measuring tape on the table method)
Birth: 20.5 inches

Eat:
Welp, Lincoln has now realized that he gets things to eat when he sits in his high chair and refuses to sit in it under any other circumstances. Little guy started solids a couple days before his official 6th month mark. And he is loving it.

So far he has tried banana, watermelon, raspberries, blueberries, avocado, broccoli, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, banana pancakes, turkey, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. The only thing he hasn't really loved were the raspberries. The sweet potatoes were his favorite. He crushed his and Aria's too.

It's been more fun than I was anticipating as well. We went with the baby led weaning approach again, and it's been great. Easy. Aria was constantly gagging on her food, and Lincoln hardly ever does. I was psyching myself up for a month of stressful gag sounds, but he hasn't been having any problems chowing down on his food and either swallowing some or spitting it back out. Phew. So, yeah, it has been a lot more fun this time around.

Super impressed with his ability to grab food and get it to his mouth. His hand eye coordination is coming along just fine. And, he is already decent with a spoon.

We are, of course, still nursing as well.

Play:
I feel like we've really shifted into more legit playing this past month. One of Lincoln's favorite pastimes is rolling all over his room moving from toy to toy. He is proficient at getting himself wherever he wants to be via rolling and pivoting on his tummy. He can spend a solid hour entertaining himself on his bedroom floor. He, however, immediately knows if mom sneaks out to grab a drink of water.

He is also sitting decently well now. Still wobbly, but getting the hang of it. I think he just prefers to flop onto his tummy and move around rather than sit still.

He is not a fan of his baby seats any longer, especially if it involves reclining on his back. He does still like his jumperoo in its usual spot by the window. And, he just recently figured out the joys of jumping in it. Aria was bouncing away in hers by day two, so I was surprised when Lincoln never bounced at all. Until now.

And, just recently Lincoln has figured out how to get up on his hands and knees to rock. He is constantly working on forward movement and it is just so adorable to watch. He's even propelled himself forward two or three times. I'm excited for him to learn a new skill, but at the same time...I'm not looking forward to keeping him away from the dogs' water bowl.

Sleep:
Sleeping has been better lately. Lincoln went from up twice almost every night to up just the one time. And, he has even slept all the way through the night a few times just recently. Those are my favorite.

He is also now sleeping in his own room in his crib. Which I feel like helps him sleep more soundly throughout the night.

Some nights though, he is a pain to get to sleep. He falls asleep just fine but then wakes up 30 minutes later crying. Then he just cries and cries for about an hour before finally passing out again. No matter what we try, he cries. He doesn't want to be held, or rock, or nurse, or sway, or have his back patted, or walk around, etc. His diaper isn't dirty, but maybe it's gas?? I'm open to suggestions.

I usually put him to bed around 730. And, it's always a nice treat when he goes down easily and stays that way.

I'm not sure what is so complicated about sleeping.

Naps have been pretty regular with 2 hour and a half ones per day. Although, there was an amazing 4 hour nap a week or two ago.

Lincoln:
Little guy still has no teeth. Aria didn't get her first tooth until she was nearly a year old. I assume he will just follow suit.

We are ready to switch from sink baths to bath tub baths. I just need to get one of those mini tubs to put inside the tub first. Aria had an inflatable duck tub that was just the ticket. But, sink baths are getting tricky. Lincoln wants to sit up instead of recline back, and it's less fun and more work all around now.

Diaper changes are nearly impossible these days as well. As soon as I lay him on his changing pad he flips right over. It's my favorite when he does that and I just pulled his diaper tabs off on a poo-filled diaper. I usually have to pin him with my upper arm while singing him a song that involves blowing raspberries. It's not that he hates the diaper changing part, just the being on his back part. Parenthood, right?

It's been a big month. A lot of big boy changes. Sitting up. Eating solids. Learning how to easily move around on the floor. But, my favorite is when he still cuddles up on my shoulder and lets me rub his back. I just love his little serious self to the moon and back, and those grins he flashes just melt my heart.

Weekending | Disney Springs

Guess who was visiting the sunshine state this past week? One of my favorite blogging friends, Jamie. I'm so glad we were able to meet up. Again. That is definitely one of the perks of living in such a big tourist destination state - I get to vacation crash!

She was here for a work conference. And, because she is a fellow Disney lover we met up at Disney Springs toward the end of her trip.

We lunched at D-Luxe Burger, which was super good and super messy and super big.

We wandered around Disney Springs a bit. Aria talked Jamie into sword fighting with her...along with talking her ear off and picking her hand to hold while we walked around. I think she is a big fan of Jamie, but she did request that next time she bring Reese along too.

We took the boat over to Jamie's resort so Aria could take a dip in the pool. And, after a nap Lincoln joined them for his first pool swim. Mr. Serious Expression seemed to enjoy it.

Then we boated back over to Disney Springs for dinner at The Polite Pig (more delicious food) and Sprinkles cupcakes (always a good idea) before it was all of a sudden way past the kids' bedtimes and we had to say good bye.

I'm super thankful for the friends and people I've met through the blog, and it's a fun perk when we have the chance to actually meet in person. Thanks again for letting us run around Disney with you (and for holding Lincoln while I ate dinner), Jamie!

Lincoln's First Beach Visit

Lincoln took his first trip to the beach yesterday. He's already a few months behind his big sister. Aria took her first beach trip around two months - dipped her tiny toes in the water and sat in the warm sand. I guess beach trips are delayed when you are a little grumpy old man....plus surviving holidays with a newborn and recovering from leaking spinal fluid and the house buying process followed by the moving process and entertaining out of town guests. Phew, I feel like we've mostly settled as a family of four in our new home now and have had a chance to breathe.

So, yesterday Aria asked if she could go to the beach when daddy got home from work. Lincoln and I were planning on staying home to nap and make dinner respectively. But, when Chris got home he said we should all just go for a little fun in the sun and we'd just wing dinner later. Alright...twist my arm!

I think Lincoln's overall look was...concerned. But, I also think he really enjoyed watching the waves and feeling the ocean breeze on his face. The first trip of many I am sure. Aria is a little beach babe. And, watermelon on the beach is one of my favorite things...if only the sand wouldn't follow us home afterwards.
