Summer Bucket List | fly a kite

Sweet Turtle Soup - Summer Bucket List | fly a kite
We ordered a kite so we could check this one off the summer bucket list. It came with a piece manufactured backwards. Chris gave it a quick fix with duct tape so Aria could still play with it in our backyard while a replacement was shipped to us. The second one arrived. Chris double checked that the tabs were going in the correct direction and then we headed to the beach. Sadly when we got to the beach Chris noticed that the poles were doing something funky and then they snapped. A few attempts were made to get the kite in the air, but it just wasn't happening.

Instead we gave up on the kite and spent a late evening at the beach. Aria was totally fine with it. We pushed dinner back and stayed out until bedtime. Aria ran all over, played in the sand, and swam with dad in the ocean. After a shower to rinse all the sand out of her hair and a quick dinner, Aria passed out as soon as her head hit the pillow. Not exactly how we planned things, but just as much fun was had.

  1. Looks like Aria had a great time! Love that you went to the beach to fly the kite. There is something special about flying a kite on the beach. We did that over the summer too.

  2. Well, you gave it a good try and it looks like you still had a great time. I always have the worst of luck with kites too btw.

  3. Oh how fun! And you got some really great pictures, too! I've never been great at flying kites. Lucky for Mason, his daddy has kite flying skills!

  4. Aw, too bad, but at least you tried! Flying a kite on the beach is so much nicer than just flying it at the park or whatever! The beach trip looked fun too.

  7. Oh such a bummer! I hate when things don't work out the way we planned! Glad she wasn't disappointed though!

  8. What a bummer that you received not one but two wonky kites! BUT, goodness, your beach is perfect. And, I'm totally jealous your water is warm enough to just go take a dip.

  9. And thats why I dont bother with kites. Pretty sure Charlie Brown's misadventures with kites is real life. So was the water warm?! That blows my mind!

  10. Your pictures are so pretty. Ithe really makes me want to take Dean and Mason to the beach tonight. That really stinks about the kite though but you're doing awesome at checking things off you bucket list! All while you're pregnant! (Air high five)

  11. Bummer on the fact that your kites BOTH didn't work! Man. What bad luck. But how fun that since you were at the beach you took advantage of the situation and had a great evening anyway! Your beach is so empty! I never go to the beach because there are always tourists EVERYWHERE. Oh and it's cold.

  12. That stinks about the kites, but it sounds like you had a good beach day still! Now I'm thinking about a beach vacation, with the waves, and the palm trees.... oh that sounds nice! Looks like Aria and Chris had fun in the water!
