Her First Bike

So, this happened the other day. Apparently the other day when the weather was actually chilly. Great Grandma found this here Minnie bike for a few bucks at the Salvation Army. And, we all know a Great Grandma can't resist the spoiling of the great grandbabes.

The only place she has to ride it is on this little patch of back deck. But, that doesn't stop her from getting on it every day and practicing. It was a lot of breaking instead of pedaling, and a complete lack of steering at first.

Slowly but surely she got the hang of it while mom or dad followed along giving pointers and pushes and foot placement help and turning the whole thing around when she pedaled into the wall or plants.

After a few days of practice, she really got the hang of it.

And she has been biking in tiny circles ever since!

  2. Go Aria!!! That is no joke! My kids seem to get so frustrated with their bikes. It's taken Letty like two summers to get the hang of it. Lol

  3. Isn't that just the most awesome thing? Seeing your little one that you have changed and fed and cuddled for just a few short years riding around on a tiny bike. It never ceases to amaze me when I see Sofia just pedaling her heart out on her bike. She's the opposite of Aria when it comes to pedaling. She doesn't have the whole brake thing down yet. She'll get there though!

  10. This is so cute! You guys need to find a fun paved trail to get her on. My husband takes Mac along for a run in the park and Mac bikes along with him and loves it! They go a couple miles at a time!

  11. It's a green light! GO! Lol, she's too cute. I love that she made sure it had gas first. That's a very important step. We've taken Ez on a few test rides at Toys R Us, which usually involve him jumping off the bike while it's still in motion with a petrified look on his face, then running off to the find the toy cars instead. Maybe next Christmas he'll be the right age...

  15. Bless her and her tiny patch of porch! Reminds me of when I learned to roller blade in my grandparents tiny kitchen, good times.

  16. Woohoo!! Go Aria!
We had some pretty frustrating moments of learning when we first pulled out the bike, too. Good thing they tend to pick up on the fun stuff pretty quickly. :)

  17. I was actually thinking the other day about when it the appropriate age to get Hadley a bike like that (she's almost 2.5 now), so it's good to see your daughter on hers and how well it works size-wise. Thanks for sharing! So cute that she loves it so much. :)
