Countdown to Halloween Link-up - Recap #4

Good morning, guys. Let's kick off this Monday with another Countdown to Halloween - 31 Days of Fall Fun link-up party! Check out this post for all the details. And, don't forget this year's co-hosts: Amanda from Tickled Pink, Elizabeth from Chasin' Mason, Kelly from Happily Ever Mock, and Nina from The Joni Journey. I flipped my weekly planner over to this week yesterday and then did a double take when I realized that by the end of this week it will be the start of a whole new month. I guess we've been having too much fun because time is flying. So, it is time for that final stretch...but first let's recap the fun we've been having.

If you didn't get a chance to hop around to all the posts last week, here are a few of my favorites...

Now onto this week's link-up...grab a button, add your post to the bottom, and have fun!
Sweet Turtle Soup

Here is what we've been up to!

Since we had such a packed weekend, Aria and I went low key today. Although, Aria did check out her trick or treat haul from the previous day's Boo at the Zoo. She ended up picking a pack of those teeny tiny jawbreakers, which she hated, and then switched for a pack of Skittles, which she liked better but only ate about half of a fun sized pouch. She even let mom have the Twizzlers.

We make up treat bags for the Halloween trick or treaters, and Aria helped me bag up the candy this year. I think she was motivated by the taste tests I told her she could do if she helped me.

Everybody else make a paper scrap candy corn, so we had to as well. We were feeling left out.

And, we finished up a spider web lacing activity that we'd prepped at the end of last week. It is two paper plates glued together (just because they are pretty flimsy on their own). Aria painted it orange, and then made a hand print spider. I punched holes around the edge. Then I tied a strand of yarn to one hole and taped the other end so it was easier for Aria to thread.

For dinner I made some completely underwhelming cheddar beer soup. Not bad, just boring.

We tried another fall smoothie. This one is a pear strawberry. It was yummy enough that I made one batch and then another because one just wasn't enough for the two of us. And, Aria wanted me to take a picture of her smoothie as well. We also added a splash or two of apple cider to thin it out because the recipe didn't call for any liquid.

We also wanted to whip something up in the kitchen, so we made some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.

I picked up these Halloween sponge stamps from the Target dollar spot - a skull, pumpkin, and ghost. So, I set up some paint and paper for Aria and she went to town. I meant to snap a shot of the end results but it slipped my mind. She enjoyed herself though.

Aria has a bin full of dress up outfits, but never had any interest in them until today. She ended up wearing 5 different ones over the course of the day. This is my little fairy helping me make her Godfather some cupcakes for his birthday.

Aria ended up needing a bath at the end of the day, so she finally got to have a legit glow stick bath. One where the bathroom is actually dark - dang natural light. She likes to bring the fun back to her room and have lightsaber fights with her dad after bath time. And then I stick them where she can see them but not get to them for a bonus night light. It is the gift that keeps on giving.

We made our favorite biscuits and grave-y breakfast - it just isn't October without a plate full.

We made the cupcakes the day before, but today we made the frosting for Aria's Godfather's birthday boo-cupcakes. Cute, right?

The dogs also get in on the Halloween spirit. Aria picked them out some new (soon to be completely destroyed) toys. The pirate bear is going strong, but the pumpkin rope toy is already de-fluffed but well loved by Baxter who has been carting it around wherever he goes.

We picked up some new fall treats while out running errands today. We haven't tried the chobani yet, but I was bummed they didn't have the apple flavor like last year - that one was my favorite.

Today was our downtown's trick or treat. This is our third year going and we always enjoy doing a loop around to all the businesses. Too bad it wasn't as cool as it was last year though.

When we got home and de-costumed Aria dumped out her goodies and immediately picked the pink tootsie pop for her treat. She crunched away on that thing...just like her dad.

Rockledge Gardens, a plant nursery a town or two away, puts on a fall fest but we'd never been. So we decided to trek out there to check it out this year. They advertised a hay ride and apples, it all sounded so promising. But, it was mostly a crowded snooze. The apples though, those were perfectly delicious. The hay ride, however, was just a jaunt across the street to the land where they grow plants and such. It was fun enough, but I doubt we'd do it again...especially when you can do almost everything they offered anytime of the year, preferably when it is less crowded.

That wraps my recap up this week. Just one more link-up left - November 2nd.
