It's the Little Things: Completing a Potty Chart

She did it! My superstar completed her starry potty chart with all the star stickers - literally all of them because I ran out and had to substitute Halloween stickers towards the end.

And, she earned her final potty present - this Hape Tool Box, along with a certificate of potty chart completion from the 'potty fairy'.

I was so hesitant to potty train. It is a big step, and it is a lot of work and a lot of paying attention. I'm glad we waited until Aria was really interested in the process. Looking back it wasn't so bad. The first day was a little crazy and stressful and messy, but she learned quickly and every day it got easier.

I'm also glad we are on the other side of it now. We aren't 100% there yet. She has had three accidents since day 1. Mostly I'm making sure to remind her to go less so she can realize when she needs to go on her own. So far she's been fantastic when we've been out of the house. Thankfully. The aim and wiping are also improved, woo hoo. The next steps will be to use the regular toilet instead of the potty chair and to tackle nighttime diapers. Eventually.

  4. Yay!! So happy for you and Aria! I was hesitant/nervous about potty training too, but it really hasn't been bad for us either.

  5. YAY!!!!!! That's awesome! She did so good! I definitely think waiting until they show interest and show that they are ready is best. She rocked it!

So you let her wipe herself?! I still don't know how I'm going to handle that one when we potty train, ha ha!

  7. Yay for potty training success! Almost out of diapers is huge! And then one day you'll realize you haven't had to remind her to go potty in a week and you'll think, wow it's all done, she/he is potty trained. I really hope my daughter is better at it than my son!

  9. Yay! Youve passed the biggest hurdle. Everything else can be done at Aria's pace.

  10. Wahoo! She did so well and was clearly ready to conquer this. Great job to the both of you. The potty fairy, HA! So perfect.

  11. Way to go! Potty training is super stressful. Annabelle pees like a champ (except if she is throwing a tantrum... that usually results in an accident), but still no poop. Hopefully one day...
Love the idea of the potty fairy, great! :)

  12. Ugh! The dreaded potty training time! So tough for kids and mamas alike. But, sounds like Aria did great and she looks to be so proud of herself. Hoping it's smooth sailing from here!

  13. Yay, Aria!! Such a big step, and huge relief when you make it over the hump!
Smart move on waiting until Aria was really ready. We did the same thing and it seemed to be (for the most part) pretty easy.

  15. Alright!! I am so ready to be done with diapers. At least for a little while until we bring #2 home (whenever that will be). Although I still have two other kiddos in diapers (nanny life) but for Ellie to be done would be a dream. She loves stickers. I think that's a great idea!

  16. Haha love that ya'll have a potty fairy!!! So very excited for ya'll and this milestone! I wouldn't sweat over nighttime diapers so much. That has a lot to do with muscle control, I think.
