Weekends Are My Favourite

So what did you get up to this weekend? We made our way back to Orlando, because apparently we just can't get enough. Not that I have a problem with that. Orlando is where all the good stuff is kept. We weren't going for anything overly exciting though - just bunnies, dress shopping, and food.

We took Aria for a visit to the Easter bunny. This time we brought the stroller so I wouldn't end up holding her for three hours, but we all had our fingers crossed the line wouldn't be as intense as Santa. Thankfully we were in and out in under an hour. Not too shabby, plus Aria just texted her buddies from her stroller 90% of the time.
Aria was not too sure about the whole situation. Blank stares the whole time until the tears started flowing. I didn't scan in the photo we got, so you'll just have to use your imagination for now. Fingers crossed by Christmas she will smile for strangers...but only the ones that work for the big man in the red suit.
After traumatizing Aria with a large bunny, we got some grub. Food court style, nothing crazy. And, then took a gander at the water fountains on the way out. She liked those more than the bunny.
Next stop was the outlet mall to find a dress to wear to a wedding next month. I can't believe how quickly I found one too. I tried on a grand total of 2 dresses. The one I ended up loving was a sleeveless black lace number that has the look of a flapper dress. Naturally I forgot to take a photo and am much too lazy to do so now. (I see a theme developing...)
The food court at the outlet mall is absurdly packed. You can't even walk through the place it is so busy. So we skipped that and stopped by Downtown Disney for another trip to the Earl (of Sandwich). Aria fell asleep on the way, and actually didn't wake up when I put her in the stroller. I think that is a first. So, we just grabbed some eats to go and got back in the car to head home. When Aria woke up I gracefully flopped into the backseat and let her chow down on some (really good) baked potato soup and some of my bbq chicken sandwich (definitely messy and the bbq sauce was a little on the sweet side, but still delish), followed by some of my caramel sundae from McD (that totally hit the spot) and a solitary french fry that dada shared. After that I pointed out all the Florida cows along the highway in a high pitched over-excited voice accompanied by moo-ing sounds. Nothing but sanity in this family.
We ended the day with a round of yard poop pick up. I politely declined, but Aria was very into being dada's poop spotter. I think she may have a promising career with it in the future.

How was everybody's weekend? Does anybody else take their kid to see the Easter bunny?

  1. Now I'm really craving the Earl. Two weeks Laur two weeks.

We do go see the Easter Bunny. We go with our kids best friends so normally they calm each other down. Nobody enjoys themselves but at least there are no tears. Haha

    1. I'm so glad we finally tried it because now it is much easier to talk my husband into popping over to Downtown Disney when we are in Orlando. I mean it just isn't a trip to Orlando without at least a small visit on property. He sure loves those Greek salads.

I saw a couple extended family groups with several kids, but even the solo kids did just fine and had no problems smiling. I was like great Aria will be the only one who ends up crying...but she held it together longer than I anticipated so I'm putting in the win column anyway!

  2. Looks like you had a great weekend! No Easter Bunny for us - Thai's don't celebrate Easter, so it's very easy to forget that it is Easter coming up!

    1. Will you be incorporating any Americanized holidays as Arlo grows up or just sticking with the types of celebrations you get in Thailand? I know you are Australian, but I'm assuming the holidays are pretty similar. If my assumption is way off feel free to shake your head and correct me. What about Christmas? Knowing me I'd celebrate every holiday from both sides, and drive my husband batty. Although it sounds like fun to pick a different cultural holiday a couple times a year to learn about with Aria, since clearly I am in the dark myself.

  3. The pic of her sleeping is so precious! Aiden also loves to text with his buddies :P

    1. I was semi-obsessed with her sleeping in her stroller, esp with the foot propped up. I don't know how many pictures I ended up with. Couldn't help myself. We sat outside in the shade while my husband waiting in line for the food, it was nice to people watch while listening to the Disney music they play and not have to worry about Aria being entertained. So rarely happens like that. I'm more confident in her ability to nap in the stroller when we go to Disney now though.
Lately I cannot get Aria to leave my phone alone. It is old so I don't mind, but it baffles me why she enjoys carrying it around so much. I lock it...there are no random baby games...no noises. Although it does slide open and shut, but I'd think she'd be bored of it after 10 minutes. Nope, she will carry that thing around half the day or more.

  4. Love a sleeping queen. And those shoes she is wearing with the pink dress are just AWESOME! Drew sees the bunny this Saturday and I'm kinda nervous about how he will do this year!

    1. I was very impressed with the stroller nap! I'm more confident that she will be able to take a snooze while we are in the parks at Disney this year. I've been internally debating whether or not to let her nap in the stroller or take a huge chunk of time and take her back to the resort for our May trip.

Those shoes are pediped originals. Her first pair were the moccs, and while awesome (and the only pair she would leave on her feet) they are so pricy. The pedipeds are cheaper, great, and she leaves those on her feet too...although she will unvelcro them if she is sitting. Might want to keep it in mind if you are hunting for a shoe for #2, they have stages for different walking abilities.

Oooh have you done past bunny visits? How was he then? I'm really hoping Aria will grow up of the deer in headlights face in these situations. Poor thing. She was the only one though, there was a whole line of kids in front of us that were happy and smiling and laughing no issue. So if you base it on that Drew's odds are great for being awesome with the bunny! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys.

  5. I love shopping, but I am not going to lie, finding a dress after only trying on one or two is sooo nice!! You can actually enjoy the process!

    1. I'm not a big shopper myself, and the outlets in Orlando are a tourist destination of their own...so they are as busy as Disney most days. However, you can get such great deals that it is worth braving the crowd, but if it starts to drag on it just becomes miserable. Last time we went we had to circle and circle and look to find our prizes, and with a stroller that ends up being an empty stroller pushed with one hand with a baby on the other hip. So tiring! I couldn't believe we were there probably half an hour total, amazing! Much more enjoyable than last time, although I was totally looking forward to an auntie annie's pretzel later on but I didn't have time to work up an appetite. =)

  6. Oh goodness, so cute. Mac loves helping "scoop" poop too. :) What a fun weekend. We're getting Mac's photos done this weekend so I really need to find outfits for us all. I hope I have as good of luck as you did. You must post photos when you get them!

    1. Who would have thought that poop scooping was a great way to top off a weekend?! Fingers crossed that your photos this weekend turn out well! I didn't know you could do family shots with the bunny, and Chris and I were not at all dressed festively. Although, I only saw one or two families hop in with the bunny and kid.

  7. Santa was NOT a hit this year, and I'm certain the Easter Bunny will also be an epic flop. All the more reason to get a picture. No? :)
And, go ahead and send Aria my way. I could use a helper cleaning up after our dog.

    1. I was totally panicking about Santa, and then Aria ended up falling asleep in line a few minutes before her turn was up...granted the line was 3 hours and overlapped with nap time. They turned out super cute that way though, and I didn't have to worry about her crying. I wonder what will happen with Santa this year. Maybe the bunny will turn out better, you never know =) Aria didn't care about sitting on a large bunny, but she was so confused as to why strangers were tickling her and trying to make her smile.
Oh sure, no problem! I am pretty sure she would pick up each bit of poop (bare handed) and toss it in a bag for you. She tries it enough here.

  8. I want to take Aiden to see the Easter Bunny too! I think we'll go next weekend - I was hoping the lines weren't as bad at Santa. Last weekend, we were in the hospital with Aiden for croup. He's doing better, but it was scary.

    1. I don't recall seeing Santa pics of Aiden, did you post them on your blog? The Easter bunny was definitely shorter, but maybe 10 minutes after we got there the line was double in size. Yikes. I'm glad we got an early start, it is so hard to get out the door because it takes us an hour and a half to get there....we are not hurry hurry people in the mornings at all.
I popped over to your blog as soon as I read that Aiden was in the hospital! Ugh, so scary. I'm just so glad he is doing better.

  9. how precious does Aria look in her polka dress?! I'm loving it! We haven't taken the kiddos to see the Easter bunny...I have a very strong feeling it would disastrous...hahaha! And i LOVE the orlando Outlets! We always make a stop when we make our way up to Orlando!

    1. I thought she looked like a little southern belle in that dress, it just needed a hat to complete the look (that she would never keep on her head) =) I'm not super into the frilly dresses, and when I see them on the hanger I'm always like meh...then I put one on Aria and I am squee-ing because it is so cute. How do babies do that?! It certainly doesn't work that way when I try on clothes! Unfair.
I wish I had been aware of the outlets in Orlando before...like for prom dress shopping! That would have been so much more fun than stopping down the road at Macy's. I also wish I didn't need to bring a huge stroller and try to maneuver through all those people!

  10. Potato soup in the back seat? Girlfriend! You are brave. Ha! Also, each time I see a new picture of your backyard I just become even more envious! I love it! Is that your very own forest in the back? How magical!!!!

    1. I know, right? I was like...I don't know if this is such a good idea. But, I pulled out her bib and she actually didn't get soup anywhere but a little mouth dribble. I was impressed. I'm actually feeling pretty good about bringing breakfast in the car so we can just wake up and hit the road for Disney this weekend. I love it when she surprises me in the good ways =)

hahaha, funny because I think the same thing when I see pictures. It so does not look so forest-y in person. We have a canal on the back and one side, so all the trees are lining the canal. It isn't a very wide bit of forest, but you can get down there and walk by the water. I never do, but Chris will take Aria down there. We also have poisonous snakes and gators in there, soooo double edged sword. The privacy is very nice. I have never seen a gator back there for the record though I can hear them at times. I have seen a non-friendly snake a couple times, but mostly we have a garden snake that comes and suns on the back sometimes. Oh and turtles, that is always fun to find a turtle looking for a place to lay eggs. I actually have a post of some pictures I took back there...Ill go find it in case you want to take a peak!

  13. We’ve never taken Mason to see the Easter Bunny. I am not sure why. Maybe because there isn’t mall anywhere near us. The closest one is about 45 minutes away and well, you kind of take a gamble with your life when you go there. Okay, maybe not that extreme…but it’s not the greatest place to be either. We avoid it at all costs. She’s too cute with her little phone in the stroller. Give her Mason’s #, okay? Ha. Okay, I used the word grub yesterday and Mason was like what is grub?! So yeah, he learned a new word yesterday. Random, I know. And you just reminded me that I need to find 2 or 3 dresses for weddings and showers I have coming up. Yuck! I hate dress shopping. I want to see the dress you picked out. Great pictures!!
