It's the Little Things :: 12

One of the cutest things about babies are their baby moves. I just cannot get enough. The bobbing and the bouncing and the bopping, it is really too much. Aria has been doing this leg kicking dance move that just kills me. I'm not sure where she picked it up from, but it is the best. The video is a few weeks old, back when we could hang out in pj pants and long sleeves comfortably. But, she is still doing this and it is still my favourite. It is a super short one today, so check her out!

Ich liebe dich

I've been meaning to respond to the liebster awards I've so sweetly been nominated for over the past couple months. My turn around is not so great apparently. Better late than never? And, since I have four sets of questions to answer I am going to just answer every other. Ain't nobody got time for a post answering 40+ questions!

The rules:
1. Thank the blogger that nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 questions given by the blogger who nominated you.
3. Nominate 5-11 bloggers with fewer than 200 followers and give them questions to answer.
The Opulent Owl
The Opulent Owl nominated me back in January. Check out her blog. You'll feel like one of her best girlfriends right away. Love her, such a positive woman! It is such a shame you can't have bi-coastal mani/pedi dates. And, you definitely need to take a peek at her too cute for words little girl, Maylee.

She asked:
-What is your favorite movie? Oh man, so many. I can't pick one. I'll do three...Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and Little Women.
-What is your phobia? Ugh, guys, this is embarrassing but I am totally afraid of the dark. I cannot sleep alone without some sort of light source. When Chris worked night shifts (for many many years) I would sleep with the tv on. Now that he works during daylight hours though I love it pitch black because I feel safe with him next to me.
-If you can plan a vacation right now, where would you go? I would do a multi city tour of the South. I'd hit up Savannah, Charleston, and Ashville.
-Imagine you are a superhero. What is your super power? If you've checked out my 'meet the family' tab you've seen my wish for time travel. I'd love to go see history for myself, and figure out some of the mysteries of time.
-If you can live forever, would you, and why? I'm torn on this one. On one hand just think of all the things you could see and accomplish, but also it is a lonely existence. Um, pass?
Lew Party of Two nominated me back in February. Check out her blog. And, you must check out her wedding series. It is almost too much gorgeousness to handle. Also she lives in Germany with her handsome basketball playing fella. Fun! She is super sweet and I love reading about her adventures traveling around Germany and Europe.

She asked:
-What is your favorite TV series? Sex and the City. Yay, I love easy questions.
-What is your favourite blog post you have written? My favourite is Aria's birth story, the first post I ever wrote. Labor both sucks and is beautiful at the same time, I just love to reread that post. Two second place winners are my St. Patrick's Day recap, and a Picmonkey How To.
-Fill in the blank: I am most happy when...I am out and about doing something with my little family. Life is so much more enjoyable with those two around. A simple trip to the beach or a walk around the local nature park or a full on day at Disney.
-What is a beauty product you cannot live without? Chap stick. I seriously cannot enjoy myself if I happen to forget one of my 78 at home. My lips are miserable and dry and I hate that.
-What is one blog you check daily? I keep on top of so many, but the first blog I ever started following was Little Baby Garvin and I still love her.
Wife Mommy Me nominated me back in March. Check out her blog. She is taking a little blog-cation right now, so it is the perfect opportunity to do a little archive digging. Here are a few of my favourites to get you started: I Must Confess, The One & Done Ramblings, and Pumpkin Patch Fun. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll nod your head...she is a breath of fresh air. It doesn't at all hurt that Connor is an absolute cutey.

She asked:
-As moms, I'm sure you get a good dose of cartoons/kid shows daily. What is one your child(ren) like that you can't stand? Aria doesn't watch much of anything right now. I turn on MM Club House on the rare, but she just isn't interested. In general I hate anything with poor animation.
-Currently loving: that we are going to Disney in 8 days.
-Currently hating: that Aria shoved her wash cloth down the tub drain and we cannot get it out.
-Favourite place to shop for yourself: Target or Victoria's Secret.
-What is your favourite holiday? Christmas, definitely Christmas. Followed closely by Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween....and every other holiday ever. I love me some holidays!

Do It All Working Mom nominated me this month (notice the trend? who wants to nominate me next month? can't stop the train). Check out her blog. Caroline and her blog are new to me, so I'll let her introduce herself. "Life as a working mom, a food and wine lover, organization and cleaning freak, gardener and a fashion lover can sometimes be crazy but that's me, that's what I love, TO DO IT ALL!" I am enjoying what I've seen so far, be sure to pop over and say hi.

She asked:
-What do you do to relax? I read. Nothing like a great book to get lost in for a few days.
-Where do you get your inspiration for your blog? Since I blog about Aria I suppose she is my main source of inspiration. But, also the other blogs I follow, love, and read. If I see a post I like that I want to use as a jumping off point I make sure to jot the idea down in a draft post or bookmark it for future reference.
-Do you have a daily and yearly blog planner? I have a monthly planner for the blog. I keep it about two months at a time. I like to have the whole month mapped out, but I'm super flexible with it. If I feel like posting something different on a day I will or if I just don't feel like posting I won't. It is all about the loose organization.
-What is your best recipe? I have two...chicken paprikash and spaghetti and meatballs.
-What do you do to celebrate? In general, I like to go out for dinner for any misc celebratory events. If I don't have to cook it or clean it up it is a total win.

I am going to nominate:

Laurie @ Andiamo
Jamie Lynn @ Cocktails & Carseats
Gillian @ Comes in Colours
Vanessa @ Nessa's World
Amanda @ Tickled Pink

And, the questions:
  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
  2. What is your favourite colour this spring?
  3. How many kids did you picture having before you actually had any? Did that number change post baby?
  4. What is your favourite cereal?
  5. What is your favourite part about blogging?
  6. Are you a sweets or salty snacker?
  7. What is the first blog you started following?
  8. What are you looking forward to the most this summer?
  9. Finish this sentence: I can't help but smile when...
  10. If you could do anything with your hair right now, what would you do?
  11. What is your guilty pleasure?
Even if you weren't nominated, feel free to answer any of the questions in the comments below - one or a couple or all! Just for fun. Fun to answer, fun to read!

Mommy & Me at the Zoo

We got passes to the zoo last year. And, since they are going to expire in a couple of days we wanted to take advantage of one more free trip to the zoo. Naturally Aria took a super long nap after a week of lame short ones and we almost missed the last admission. But, we hustled our butts there just in time and got a couple sections done before they kicked us out.

I thought that on our last trip Aria was really into the animals. But, this trip she was really really into the animals. I pointed them all out and when she noticed them you could just see it in her expression. She waved at them and pointed and shouted. It was definitely a great last trip, although now I'm also like shoot maybe we should renew them because she is loving it finally.

No giraffes to spot, but a couple gazelles (or something) wandering about.

She spotted a bird, one of those tall ones. I'm thinking I should have paid better attention to the signs. A fantastic tour guide, I am not.

Aria got a stroller fan in her second Easter basket, so we brought it along to test it out. I'm impressed with it, it gives off a nice amount of breeze for such a tiny thing. Aria won't stop grabbing it, but I'm hoping the appeal will wear off with continued exposure.

This one is a tortoise! You can see him toward the left, he was plotting his escape over the fence.

Since it was our last zoo trip, I wanted to walk through the bird enclosure. We normally skip it because birds make me nervous. They are totally lovely from a distance, but I really just don't see the appeal of being dive bombed by psychotic flapping creatures.

Aria liked it though, until one tried to take a finger off. But, she got over it quickly.

Chris was in his element. Communing with the birds and all. Nut.

I'd rather watch the warthogs. Much less flighty.

Since it was hitting closing time, we were shoo-ed out of the Australian spoke and Aria was so interested in the lady walking with us that she wouldn't even glance at the kangaroos or the emus. Kids.

Bonus video, 16 seconds of me being odd:
Have a great start to the week!

Sweet Sunday

April 6th - 26th
Things, life, and holidays have gotten in the way of my usual Sweet Sunday posts, so today's post is extra long. Playing three week catch up with our simply sweet moments.

April 6th - 12th
Just a girl and her balloon on a stick.

Let me do yours now, mama.

First orange juice. I think she is officially a Florida girl now.
Hanging out with great-grandma.

Pre-water table era. Just playing with the hose. So much happy I couldn't narrow it down to just one.

The last sleep before Epcot! Aria is like...oooook.

April 13th - 19th
A little reflection silliness.

My little helper making brownies.

This is our neighbor's dog, Bella. She came for a visit and had a blast running around with my two dogs. Her owners fixed the hole in the fence though, so now we just get nose kisses through the fence.
Yesterday a different Bella came to visit though. She slipped her collar while her mom was walking her and ran around the back with Baxter until her mom could catch her. Our back yard is pretty fun - it brings all the Bellas to the yard.

Checking out the canal and passing cars with great-grandma.

Our morning entertainment. A flock of ibis came to feast on our buggies.

Some days you just need your bacon fix.

And, some days you just need to run around in your diaper.

A little yoga before reading. Good for the body and mind.

This quiche was out of this world. I've been craving it since I made it.
A combo of these two recipes [ 1 / 2 ] I'd cut the garlic salt in half.

Opening up Aria's Easter box from Aunt Arianne and Uncle Ian. Mama had a little too much fun with the grass. (Aunt Arianne - Aria loved that skirt, it was her favourite of the goodies! Thank you!)

Always waiting for dada to come home. I think she is fond of him.

Helping mama make pumpkin pie for our Easter dinner, technically the dough at this point. Let me just say there that was flour everywhere by the end.

Chris is very precise with his egg dye measurements.

Writing on an egg with dada. This one turned out to be my favourite, but I didn't get any pictures because Aria broke them all on Easter morning, ha.
I like to dye my eggs with multiple colours, while Chris just wants to plop them in a dye bath and leave them for hours. My way is clearly better, because Chris' is boooring.

 Family shot attempt #1.

Family shot attempt #20.

April 20th - 26th
She can reach the bottom row of our convection oven now. Every time I try to look at the time there is some preset flashing on the screen instead. Good thing the start button is a little higher.

The lizard whisperer.

Our favourite way to spend the afternoon.

I'm happy.
I'm sad.

Grilling with dada.
Marching around the yard.

Giving her bunny some love.

I love going through my photos from the week and finding big smiles. It has been a while since she would smile for the camera, so these are like little gems!
Sitting on the floor watching Food network eating her raisins.

Playing blocks with great-grandma. More cheese!

This is my little old lady baby. It is funny how a dress can add four years.

Dada went to Target for butt paste and came back with a new water toy.
I'm not so sure about this mama.

When it was just on the wood, Aria wanted nothing to do with it. I told Chris to set it on the water table, Aria loved it. Feels good to be a genius sometimes!
Have a sweet Sunday!
