It's the Little Things :: 6

Joining up with Ashley at Words About Waverly and Jess at Sadie Sky Boutique today for 'little things'. No video today though. Instead I thought I'd share a little moment the other night that made my heart happy. And, by the way this picture has nothing to do with that but you can't have a post without a picture.
Aria has not been rocked to sleep since she was a newborn. And, it only worked then because she slept all the time and didn't give a hoot where. She is just not a cuddly wants to be held while falling asleep type baby. She literally pushes away when I merely pick her up to put her in her crib, where is the love? So, the other night she woke up crying and I thought maybe she needed a diaper so I went in. She didn't but I put her in a fresh one anyway because she has been getting over a rash, and then something amazing happened. She let me rock her. I was like well this has a snowball's chance in hell of lasting but I'll give it a try. I gave her her blanket and we sat down and she rested her head on my shoulder as relaxed as could be. So we snuggled and I rocked her while looking down at her beautiful sleepy face and enjoying absolutely every little moment of it.

  2. Aw! So precious! Lily is in a cuddling phase now but at Aria's age she definitely wasn't. Hopefully some more snuggles and extra cuddles are in the future for y'all too. So sweet! -Xo Amanda

    1. I have all my fingers crossed! She will cuddle for a few minutes when she needs a break during the day if you are holding her, and she will sometimes sit on your lap too. But, definitely never curled up in a lap like that. It was the best! I want more =)

    1. She is so independent, and stubborn to boot! I'm jealous of the babes that will rock and be read to before bedtime. But, a few minutes in the middle of the night will do just fine too. Blew me away.

    1. I sat down to write up this post, and I was like oh shoot I forgot to get a picture! I'm glad I found one that was sweet anyway, even if it doesn't relate much ha =) Thanks for popping over today!

  5. Oh, so sweet. I still rock Mac every night and love it. We snuggle in the glider, read a couple books, turn out the light and he says "mama rock." So we rock . I'm so glad you had another night to rock her - they are growing up too fast!

    1. Every night? Wow. That is the best! The only time she rocked with me was when she nursed and most of the time when she was full she would struggle to get up and off me. So I'd get up and put her in the crib where she put herself to sleep like a champ. I think we taught the self-soothing a little too well. Since we don't nurse anymore I barely get a hug and a kiss. Sigh.

  6. Callie is totally the same -- as soon as we're doing with books she's like I'm outta here mom! She's never been a cuddler so those few moments are so sweet. The only time, besides super newborn days, she feel asleep on me was this past fall when she was sick. I don't wish her to be sick but it was a sweet moment. I totally get it. :)

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a non-snuggling babe. I'd even take her not fighting me tooth and nail when I pick her up to put her in the crib though, geesh. I'm like what in the world are you doing child you want to go to bed you just told me, so let me put you there?!?!?!?! rawr. haha anyway. Aria still hasn't been sick (knock on wood) but I always hope that when she does she will want to cuddle. The sick part will blow but the only good thing about being sick is the cuddles.

    1. They are so the best! So few of them I definitely appreciate them when she gives them. Just in the last day or two she will sit in my lap if we blow bubbles, love it.

  8. Savanna is the SAME way. She doesn't want to be held when going to sleep. I'm already missing those newborn moments and it's only been 9 months. The first year literally flies!!

    1. Sad with all these busy busy babies, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes cuddle-less most of the day. I love when all I did all day was curl up with a sleeping Aria, but it was oh so long ago. Goes by so fast =/ I love it! but bittersweet for sure.

  9. We rock each night before bed, and read a few books. Usually after the second or third book Marcus will hop off my lap and walk over to the crib. My heart breaks a little each time this happens, as I think I could rock him forever.
    How wonderful that you were able to share such a sweet moment with Aria!

    1. Aria definitely wants nothing to do with lap sitting, but she will take several hundred leg rides. Not the same, but super cute...until my leg gives out.
      That is super cute that he will rock with you though, even if just for a few books. So independent and dependent all at the same time.

  11. Love it!! Sadie has always enjoyed being rocked for a few minutes now and then, but isn't the type to just snuggle up and be rocked to sleep....until the other night. She asked me to rock her and fell asleep cuddled up to me and holding my hand! I cried as I sat and rocked her for a few extra minutes before I laid her down in bed. Enjoy those precious moments! Thank you for linking up and sharing with us!

  12. Awww! Melt my heart!!! So sweet. Mason is totally opposite. Wants to be cuddled and held (even at 3 years). He's never been one to just put himself to sleep!
