Five on Friday: I love...

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG
Linking up with the good life blog, Carolina Charm, A. Liz Adventures, and Hello! Happiness today to share 5 things I love about my daily strolls in the backyard with Aria. Before Aria could walk I had no desire to take her in the grass, we have two dogs and those two dogs use that yard for some unseemly business. And, also did you know there is dirt in a backyard? No thanks. But, now that Aria can walk she has been exploring the backyard. At first it was just dada's thing to take her on backyard adventures every day after work, but she has convinced mama to stop being such a girl about it and join in on the fun too. So, this 5 is to Aria!

I love that you hold my hand. You hold my hand to go out the back door and then you hold my hand to take the step down to the grass and then you hold my hand on and off while we walk around the backyard. In the NICU you were hypersensitive so I wasn't allowed to hold your hand or touch you for a few days and when I was finally allowed to it was the best sensation just touching your tiny hand. It is no less amazing now.

I love that you notice all the airplanes overhead. You sometimes point, you sometimes wave, and you sometimes grunt. I never paid them much attention before. Now I hear them all day long, which makes me think of you.

I love that when you trip or lose your balance and plop on your bum you hold your hand up for assistance. It is almost always immediately upon impact, and you never even look around to see where I am, but you hold up your hand so that I can help you back onto your feet.

I love that when you get your hands dirty you come over and wipe them off on my leg or pants. Mama doesn't like dirty hands either.

I love that when you find sticks in the yard you have to go locate one of the dogs to gift it to. It is pretty amusing that you seem to always pick Baxter over Lizzy though, when Lizzy is the one who likes and tolerates you more. I guess you enjoy the chase.

*yes, I am in my pajamas still. and, yes Aria has on a Thanksgiving bib - the material is the best for milk dribbles.

Have a kick-ass weekend!

    1. This is a super recent thing too. Aria would throw a hissy if anybody even so much as thought about hand holding. Now she grabs my hand just to walk across the house...I'm like yes I absolutely will escort you! It is the best.

  3. Aw, the hand holding is too sweet. Marcus doesn't grab for my hand near as much as I'd like. But, when it happens my heart instantly melts.
    Happy Weekend!

    1. It is super recent with Aria. Before it was pretty much never, she would sit down and throw a little hissy. She'd allow it if we made her like in a parking lot. Now she will ask for my hand to walk out of her room or down the length of the kitchen randomly...I love it! Totally makes a mama's heart sing =)

    1. Thank you so much! I agree, and Aria is a clutz just like her mama. It is like when a puppy gets moving and then forgets how to stop himself and just eats it. Super duper cute!

      Thanks for visiting today =)

  5. Awwww loved this!! Such a sweet post! They take in everything, things that we don't appreciate anymore because we are use to them. Babies memories always surprise me so much too like her remembering the dogs love sticks... Good at sharing already lol Have a fabulous weekend with your little cutie!!

    1. Thanks so much! Exactly. It is so funny how all the cliche things are just oh so true - time flies, and you will love experiencing life through their eyes, and the hardest best job ever, etc. I never thought they would be so spot on. I'm always amazed when I say something to Aria and she absolutely understands, I'm like where did you learn that?! They take everything in. It is one of my mama worries - that I am not feeding her little brain enough when it is so spongey.

      Have the best weekend!

    1. Thanks so much! We started our little stroll around the backyard but she kept being so cute I had to scoop her up and run back inside to grab my camera. I was like shoot I knew I should have put real pants on...ha =)

We are enjoying a mini cold front here in FL - they say it might be the last of the winter, and of course cold front FL style is 60s/70s. So we are enjoying it before that heat kicks in! I think you said you had snow in the forecast for you guys, but I hope spring really springs soon out your way!

    1. It is funny how one minute they will absolutely not do something (no way no how) and then all of a sudden they want to hold hands! Aria was definitely not a hand holder even a week ago. So, you never know Evan might all of a sudden switch things up on you =) I feel that way about cuddling too. Aria will not cuddle or lap sit before bed time (or hardly ever), so I'm always jealous when I hear bedtime routines that involves a nice 30 minute rocking sesh with story time. Aria runs around like a mad woman while I read to her. haha =)

I hope you have a great weekend yourself!

    1. I had a little inspiration from another post I saw - she wrote a whole list of things she loves about her son, the little quirks special to him. Then I start writing mine and the tears just start coming. I'm just a big ol' ball of mama emotions =)

Thanks for visiting today! Always enjoy hearing from you =) Have a lovely lovely weekend.

    1. Thank you so much! I actually got sniffly writing it out here and there. I was always overly emotional, but when I got pregnant it just sky rocketed...and it never came back down! haha.

  12. Oh my gosh, this is so sweet! I absolutely LOVE when Mason grabs my hand too. It is just the best feeling in the world. Also, I showed him an airplane the other day (we live close-ish to an airport so it was pretty big in the sky since it was landing) and he just starred, in complete amazement. It is so cool to see them discover new things!

    1. Thank you!

It is pretty funny when I get more excited about the airplanes than Aria. We too live just a few streets down from a little airport so we get planes constantly. So, when one is landing and so big and right there I try SO hard to get Aria to look up. It is usually at that time that she decides she is unconcerned about all things skyward. I get the high pitched voice jump up and down and point...she's like whatev mom.

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the details of our walk. I love taking my camera around to catch all the random little cute bits. It always makes me laugh when she falls on her tush and lifts up her hand when she has no idea where I am.

    1. It does! She holds two fingers and her little hand is so squishy. Love it.

ohmygosh Aria does the same thing. She loves grabbing the dog toys and trying to get the dogs to play with them. Sometimes they will take them from her though and she gets so happy. Bunch of nuts they are! I'm impressed she seems to always know which are the dogs, when they are in a box out of reach and she hasn't seen them before - maybe they just look so well chewed it gives it away.
