Traditional Chili

Taste: Definitely depends on your tomato sauce. I used jarred, but I bet it would be even better with homemade. I love a beefy chili, and this has lots of beef - mmm. Perfection over fries with a little melted cheese.
Amount: One big ol' pot of it.
Time: 3 1/2 hours, but it is quick to put together and then you just let it simmer.

Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 - 30 oz cans of red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 12 oz beer, something darker is recommended
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, depending on how spicy you prefer your chili
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1-2 teaspoons hot sauce, depending on how spicy you prefer your chili
Directions:
In a large pot, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic over medium-high heat. Drain beef of grease. Add the remaining ingredients to the pot and stir. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 3 hours until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Top with cheese, sour cream, and your favourite chili add-ins. Or, use as a topping for fries, or hot dogs.
